Last weekend we toddled down to Mount Vernon, where we often find ourselves, and spring was springing all over the place. The ground was an inch deep in mud, unsurprisingly – since it had been raining for days on end. But more to the point, the upper garden was a riot of color and life.

The gorgeousness had to be seen to be believed.
Happy Friday, friends! I hope you enjoyed these, and I hope you have lovely weekends ahead.
How lovely! I adore peonies, especially fragrant ones. I have only two varieties in my garden. One is fragrant (“Bartzella”) and the other is not (something pink).
It was a beautiful day! I love peonies too, and the gardens at MV are always full of life at this time of year. I particularly love the brief moment when the garden is blooming and so are the trees – that was a couple of weeks ago, but Mount Vernon is gorgeous any time of year.
